A Cordial Invite

I am delighted to be part of the Seascapes Exhibition taking place in the Crafts Council of Ireland at the Knitting and Stitching Show in the RDS this week.  Above is an invite to the official opening of the show which took place today and the brochure with a list of all the participating artists.  It has made my day to see my piece on the cover of both!  I have two pieces exhibited in the show, both inspired by the remains of the sea.

Concept and inspiration for this work:

I will be building pieces of the female form, focusing primarily on the spinal area as it mimics the delicacy, fragility and beauty of the fish bone along with other relevant materials. By combining these contrasting materials I will be building surfaces and then manipulating and distorting them so they once again become like remains, washed up on a shore, vulnerable and beautiful all over again.
